Kathleen Hurley, Artistic Director
Kathleen Hurley is the founder and Artistic Director of Hurley & Dancers and
the founder and Co-Artistic Director with Patricia Choate of parent company
Tandem Theatre and Dance, a new professional collaborative company based in
the Des Moines area. She also was the founder and Artistic Director of The
Chamber Dancers (of Iowa Dance Theatre) from 1996-2001. Her dance career
includes performances with Yancey Dance Theatre and the Doris Humphrey Dance
Ensemble in New York City, and guest appearances in Germany and Mexico. In
addition, she was a member of Pennsylvania Dance Theatre for three years,
touring the east coast and Europe. Kathleen is an honors graduate of the
University of Iowa where she toured to Hong Kong with the Dancers to Go
Company. Her Iowa dance career includes performances with Iowa Dance
Theatre, The Neuman Project and Co'Motion Dance Theatre. She teaches at Lind
Dance School and presents on-going residency classes in Hoover High School's
Drama Department. She is also the Managing Editor for the West Des Moines
Press Citizen newspaper.
